Our Mission
Our organisation “SANKALP” is a well known name in Varanasi. We run a programme “KSHYA MUKT KASHI” (T.B. Free Kashi) since 1997. Initially our organisation used to cover annually 100 T.B. patients which now have been increased to 500 per year. Our organisation has treated 9000 approx. T.B. patients by now.
The camp is conducted by Sankalp every month’s last “sunday” at Kashi Seva Samiti, Ramkatora ,Varanasi.
It need not to explain that the treatment of T.B. is a time taking and costly job. The cost of Radiology Report, Pathological Investigation, Doctor’s Honorarium & Medicines etc. is Rs.6000 to Rs.8000 per patient.
What is Tuberculosis (TB) ?
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease usually caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Tuberculosis generally affects the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. Most infections do not have symptoms, in which case it is known as latent tuberculosis. About 10% of latent infections progress to active disease which, if left untreated, kills about half of those infected.[1] The classic symptoms of active TB are a chronic cough with blood-containing sputum, fever, night sweats, and weight loss. The historical term “consumption” came about due to the weight loss. Infection of other organs can cause a wide range of symptoms.
Signs and symptoms
The main symptoms of variants and stages of tuberculosis are given, with many symptoms overlapping with other variants, while others are more (but not entirely) specific for certain variants. Multiple variants may be present simultaneously.
Tuberculosis may infect any part of the body, but most commonly occurs in the lungs (known as pulmonary tuberculosis). Extrapulmonary TB occurs when tuberculosis develops outside of the lungs, although extrapulmonary TB may coexist with pulmonary TB.
General signs and symptoms include fever, chills, night sweats, loss of appetite, weight loss, and fatigue. Significant nail clubbing may also occur.

How We Work
In our Tuberculosis Free Kashi Healthy Kashi Campaign patients are treated by 6 renowned doctors.T.B can happen at any age and can happen in any organ,that is why our camps have different doctors for different type of T.B patients.
They are –

During Treatnment of TB patients if doctor suggests any type of pythological test/ X-Ray/Ultrasound,they done free of cost at one of our organisations selected center where bills are paid by organisation.
The selection of new TB patients are done by either recommendation of Honorable persons of city & doctor’s or by conducting camps from time to time at different area of city.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease, which can happen to a person from a patient by the means of air, touch , splitting etc. So to prevent that our organisation conducts different awareness programs such as rallies , work shops and poster-slogan competition in school/colleges.
